5 things I’m loving right now

lovehandSorry things were slow around here last week. I live in Colorado and, maybe you’re aware, we’ve been having some major flooding. Word outside of Colorado is that the national coverage hasn’t been all that great. So, here are some rough stats for you as of yesterday…

  • more than 1,200 people missing or unaccounted for
  • 1,500 homes destroyed
  • 11,700 people evacuated so far
  • nearly 17,500 homes damaged

My little place is garden-level and right in a major evacuation area in Longmont. I’ll go into more detail about that later. Suffice it to say, I’m very lucky that I didn’t get any flooding, but it came darned close. And so, there is so much to love!

  1. My awesome friends Sally and Andy who helped me in so many ways over the past several days.
  2. The complete strangers who stepped off the street and helped me and Sally clear out my place.
  3. The lovely National Guard folks in my neighborhood helping to stand watch.
  4. All of the stories of people stepping up and helping others in our state and communities.
  5. A dry home, even if it is a little muggy and cold down here.

  • About Me

My mother is an encyclopedia of useless information (sorry, ma, but it's true) - no one can beat her at Trivial Pursuit. As I age, I become more like dear old mom everyday. I routinely tell people about resources, recipes, tips, tricks, or websites I've heard about, tried, live by, etc. until one of my clients urged me to start a blog. So here it is! My perpetual ramblings. I hope you find them useful and amusing. If you don't, you can either keep it to yourself or leave me a well constructed critique.

I'm a former massage therapist, a freelance journalist, and a web information architect and UX designer. I enjoy yoga, the Bar Method, camping, reading, gardening, and spending time with my friends and loved ones. I live in Colorado.
