Confession Thursday

  1. Confession I think it’s misguided for people to give a relationship with someone shot after shot after shot. I mean, really, what do you expect will be SO different the 2nd, 3rd, 4th time around that it’s going to work this time? Trust me, it’s from a place of experience that I’ve formed this belief, I’ll own that.
  2. I just had an interesting conversation with someone about the single biggest thing that attracts me to a person whether it’s a new friend, love interest, business associate, etc. It’s emotional intelligence, hands down.
  3. I refuse to go shopping on Black Friday and I try really hard to stay out of restaurants, etc. on major holidays for a reason. When I was in the restaurant industry, I remember working a particular Christmas Eve knowing that my family was at home having our big family dinner and I was missing out. We had a guy lose his mind over the fact that he and his family were seated at a rectangular table instead of a round top. I couldn’t help it – I teared up and said, “Sir, be glad you’re here with your family while those of us working to provide you all a good meal and a good atmosphere are missing out.” He shut up pretty quickly. People can be so selfish and singular-minded during the holidays while forgetting how many others are sacrificing in their wake. I don’t want to contribute to that. (P.s. my family ended up waiting on me for dinner. My mom popped into my work and told me they’d wait and were out driving around looking at Christmas lights to pass the time. I cried. I think we had dinner at about 11:30 that night.)
  4. I have some of the most supportive people in my life. Truly, I do. You know, the people who get really, genuinely excited for you but are also there to help when you need it and aren’t functioning all that well. I hope everyone has folks like these because, gosh, they just make life so, so, so much better.
  5. Cell phones drop calls all the time, right? Within a few seconds of realizing this has happened, I hang up. I know some people will cling to hope the call will resume for quite some time, but I’d rather disengage and then start over. Otherwise you can start a nasty round of phone tag, which is a bit annoying.

  • About Me

My mother is an encyclopedia of useless information (sorry, ma, but it's true) - no one can beat her at Trivial Pursuit. As I age, I become more like dear old mom everyday. I routinely tell people about resources, recipes, tips, tricks, or websites I've heard about, tried, live by, etc. until one of my clients urged me to start a blog. So here it is! My perpetual ramblings. I hope you find them useful and amusing. If you don't, you can either keep it to yourself or leave me a well constructed critique.

I'm a former massage therapist, a freelance journalist, and a web information architect and UX designer. I enjoy yoga, the Bar Method, camping, reading, gardening, and spending time with my friends and loved ones. I live in Colorado.
