Confession Thursday

  1. Confession When I go too long between hair cuts, I start to fantasize about shaving my head. I’ve done some investigating and it seems like I have a good cranium for that. No weird lumps or anything. Not that I’d ever do it, but it’s reassuring to know it might not be totally terrifying under there.
  2. I haven’t danced in months because of some damage I did to one of my feet. For a while I kind of appreciated the break. Now I just miss it. I think it’ll all come back to me pretty quickly, but I do wonder…
  3. I saw the new Mad Max last weekend and I guarantee I spent most of the movie with a look of utter confusion on my face. Seriously, one of the strangest movies ever. But I still liked it! The former 4-wheeler in me was just as pumped up about some of the vehicles on the screen as the teenage boys in there. (I think my friend and I were two of 10 women in a packed theater.)
  4. Sometimes music has a bigger presence in my life. Like the words to songs I’ve listened to a million times suddenly take on a whole new meaning. I love that.
  5. I just had a four day weekend last week. This weekend will be a three day weekend. Next weekend, I’ll have another four day weekend. This is how life should always be.

5 things I’m loving right now

  1. lovehandSleeping in. I know that going to sleep and waking up at the same time every day, day-after-day, is supposed to be the way to do it, but that means not ever sleeping in. Forget that!
  2. Shopping for jeans. Normally I HATE shopping in general, especially for jeans (even more than shopping for a bathing suit). But I had a good time with it this weekend.
  3. Clean laundry. I love the way it smells and how accomplished I feel after doing a bunch of laundry.
  4. Instant streaming on Netflix. I’m not sure why it took me so long to get on board, but I love it.
  5. This song. On repeat. Loud!

5 things I’m loving right now

  1. lovehandWhen the answers to questions that are ethereal, or metaphysical, or somewhat intangible come to you in a flash and everything is clear again. That can be so freeing!
  2. When you hear/see something that makes a huge impact on you. This video is one of those things. The best line? “The truth is, rarely can a response make something better. What makes something better is connection.” Man, that is just so true!
  3. Having a job with pay for sick leave. I’m rocking an awesome sinus/cough thing right now and being able to stay home and rest up is much appreciated.
  4. Thoughtful (and not at all harsh) reminders sent by dear friends that even when things seem tough, they’re not so bad. Here’s what she sent.
  5. Movies that make you smile the whole way through.

Confession Thursday

  1. Confession I own a bowling ball and shoes. These items were a gift from an ex about 13 years ago. Suffice it to say, he wasn’t the best gift giver.
  2. I starting learning how to rope a steer the other night. It was a riot! And truly, I wasn’t half bad at it.
  3. I recently joined Instagram. I know I’m late to the party on this one, but I’m really trying to be better about taking pictures to document things in my life and this seems to be helping. If you want to, you can follow me at annie_brokaw. I promise not to post pictures of hipster outfits (mostly because I don’t dress that way) or food.
  4. I spent some time with a friend this past weekend commiserating on the down-sides of dating. It’s nice to know I’m not the only one who’s sick of this crappola.
  5. I went to see a scary movie the other night. Horror flicks aren’t my first choice and I jumped about a bazillion times. But! I didn’t scream. I’m not a screamer, which I’m glad for.

5 things I’m loving right now

  1. lovehandAn awesome dinner at this place. So, so yummy! And the company wasn’t so bad either. I have some great friends. The service was iffy, but the food made up for it.
  2. Margaritas at The Rio. I forgot how good they are!
  3. My new phone! I’m getting used to its size. It’s bigger than most phones, but smaller than a tablet. A coworker calls it a phablet. Har.
  4. Cliche chick-flicks. (The Lucky One for you inquiring minds.) It was slightly painful and predictable, but in a feel-good kind of way that made up for the large quantities of cheesiness.
  5. The fact that after I publish this, I’m headed into the mountains with my sister and nephew for a few days. The plan is to relax, hit up some hot springs, and love on some of my absolute favorite people.
