I’ve spent a good deal of time in our bed lately resting. All of the rain bouncing off the plastic of our greenhouse outside the window reminds me of the sound of rain on a tent.
Napping during an afternoon rain storm is one of my most favorite things about camping. The minute the rains start, my friends all crack beers and nestle under tarps to play cards while I just smile and say, “You know where I’m headed. See you guys later!”
And then I crawl in, strip down, and have all the pillows and sleeping bags and room to myself. The air is cool and smells clean, the light is diffuse and grey, and the sound of the rain on the tent lulls me to sleep.
I don’t sleep well at night when we camp. I always seem to struggle to stay comfortable, shifting and turning every half hour or so to find the next comfortable spot. But I sleep like a baby during those afternoon rain showers – just passed out until the rain clears.
I doubt there will be any camping for me this year. Between the fire ban (camping without a fire is just plain lame, but the ban is very understood) and neck procedures, it looks like I’ll be sticking around the house. I sure hope next summer is different.

/ July 27, 2012As usual, perfectly worded and harmonizes with my feelings of camping. :)
A post request: If not too personal, lay down the skinny on the neck thing. I’ve read about procedures and recovery and impacts, but don’t quite understand the background…
All the best, happy Friday to a great weekend Annie!

/ July 27, 2012SEAN! Hey :) Glad you liked the post.
Yeah, I really hope to go into details on the whole neck thing at some point. I hate being so mysterious about it all and do really plan on sharing full details. I still have a long road to hoe on the settlement for the accident and I’m trying to protect my interests, etc. until all of that is hashed out. Know what I mean, Vern?
But, thanks for the post request! Any others?
Take care and have a great weekend!
